Gulf of Mexico 1 of 3
After about a year on dry land in Texas, I found out
why all of us had to take survival-at-sea training.
I was transferred to the OBC division where a cable
is laid out behind a boat onto the bottom of the ocean
(hence 'ocean-bottom cable') before a gunboat traverses
the area and the seismic signals are recorded.
This picture shows me on the top deck with a bunch
of the cable stacked up for repair.
In the background, the
source vessel
is cruising by,
dragging its hydraulic 'guns' behind.
